A Return to Self: From ocean waves to inner stillness… this retreat was a true reset for the soul.

There are moments in life where you don’t realize how much you needed something until you arrive in it.

My recent retreat in Costa Rica was one of those moments.

Held in community with other teachers and like-minded souls, this experience deepened the power of sangha for me— of being witnessed, supported, and inspired by others walking a similar path.

There is something deeply healing about being in spaces where you don’t have to explain yourself… you can simply be.

Travel as Transformation

I’ve always felt that travel expands me in ways nothing else quite can.

It shifts perspective.

It softens the edges.

It invites gratitude.

Being in Costa Rica, witnessing the rhythm of daily life, the connection to nature, and the intentional way people move through the world reminded me of what truly matters. It deepened my appreciation not only for the life I’m building, but for the shared human experience — and those who are genuinely working from the heart to bring more healing into the world.

The Experience Itself

This retreat was a beautiful blend of adventure, stillness, and connection.

I spent time surfing — something that felt both humbling and exhilarating. I paddleboarded, explored, and journeyed to Isla Tortuga, a secluded island just off Playa Jaco, where the water shimmered in gradients of yellow, turquoise, and deep blue.

Floating in the ocean felt like coming home to my body — supported, weightless, held.

There were so many firsts:

  • Seeing dolphins in the wild

  • Riding a catamaran to a secluded island

  • Solo Surf lesson

  • Floating in the ocean

Each experience carried a sense of wonder — simple, yet profound.

The Power of the Space

Vida Asana was the perfect container for this experience.

The people were kind, open, and community-centered.

The energy of the land itself felt alive and supportive.

Every morning I woke up feeling good — not rushed, not heavy — just clear, grounded, and at ease. My nervous system softened in a way that only happens when you truly allow yourself to rest.

Why Retreats Truly Help Us Recharge

Reflecting on this experience, I understand more deeply why retreats are so powerful. Not just conceptually — but experientially.

Here’s what I felt, in my own words:

1. You step out of your daily rhythm — and into intention.

Without the usual responsibilities and distractions, there’s space to reconnect with what truly matters.

2. Your nervous system finally gets a chance to exhale.

When you’re held in a supportive environment, your body can soften, regulate, and restore.

3. Nature becomes your teacher.

The ocean, the sun, the land — they mirror back presence, patience, and flow.

4. Community becomes medicine.

Being in sangha reminds you that you’re not alone — that healing and growth are shared experiences.

5. You return to yourself — clearer, lighter, more aligned.

Not as a different person, but as a more remembered version of who you are.

A Seasonal Alignment

To experience all of this just before Ostara — the Spring Equinox — felt deeply symbolic.

A time of renewal.

A time of balance.

A time of emerging.

This retreat felt like a gentle clearing… a shedding of what was no longer needed, making space for what’s ready to grow.

Closing Reflection

This wasn’t just a trip + it wasn’t just a retreat.

It was a return.

A reset.

A remembering. <3

And I carry that with me — in how I move, how I teach, and how I continue to live with intention. —

If you’ve been feeling the call to step away, to reset, to reconnect… Trust that nudge ✨

Thank you Syracuse Yoga for this amazing opportunity <3 _/|\_
