YOGA TEACER | ACCESSIBLE MOVEMENT ADVOCATE

Kari has been practicing yoga regularly since 2012. Her journey began as a way to better manage anxiety and gradually evolved into a deeper connection with yoga philosophy and a more intentional way of living. In May 2019, she became a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher after completing her teacher training through Evolution Physical Therapy & Yoga in Burlington, Vermont.

Kari is also a physical therapist, graduating from the University at Buffalo in 2000. Her background in physical therapy deeply informs her approach to teaching and her intention to make yoga accessible to all bodies, including those navigating perceived physical, mental, or emotional limitations.

Kari approaches each student as an individual, creating classes that encourage participants to honor their own bodies, needs, and experiences. Her specialized areas of focus include the pelvic floor, back, hips, posture, and functional movement. She offers classes, workshops, and series designed around specific areas of the body and physical conditions—while also enjoying the creativity and fun of a good holiday-themed class.

As a breast cancer survivor, Kari also brings personal understanding and compassion to her work and has taught classes supporting individuals affected by cancer, including practices focused on gentle movement and the lymphatic system.

At the heart of Kari’s teaching is the belief that yoga is a practice of connection—connecting the individual self with the higher Self. She understands that people sometimes hesitate to attend a community yoga class because they worry about how they may look, what they can or cannot do, or what others might think. Kari encourages students to turn their attention inward, reminding them that yoga is not about comparison or performance, but about being present with their own experience.

Combining her education and experience as a physical therapist with her training as a yoga teacher, Kari creates a compassionate and welcoming environment where students can explore movement with greater confidence and ease. Her kindness, empathy, and warm smile naturally invite a sense of relaxation and belonging.

Outside of teaching and practicing yoga, Kari cherishes time with family and friends. She loves to read, learn, travel, and spend time outdoors—whether hiking, paddling, exploring nature, or simply being.
